My Cat’s Floor-Sniffing Obsession: Send Help

Is anyone else’s pet absolutely convinced the floor is a gourmet buffet? My cat, Mochi, has decided that her life’s mission is to press her face as close to the tiles as possible, like she’s searching for the meaning of life in the grout. I swear, every time I turn around, she’s got her nose squished flat, hunting for invisible crumbs or maybe just contemplating her existence. I try to intervene, but she gives me that look—equal parts offended and determined. It’s like, “Excuse me, human, this is my process.” I’m torn between letting her do her weird little thing and worrying she’ll end up inhaling a dust bunny the size of her head.
