The Universe Got Bigger. My World Shrunk

I read about Quipu—the new biggest thing in the universe—while microwaving another cup of coffee at 2am. Seven sextillion miles. I can’t even imagine that. My own world feels like it’s shrinking: desk, lab bench, inbox, repeat. They mapped a billion light-years with X-rays and models. I can’t even map out tomorrow. Every new cosmic discovery is supposed to make us feel awe, but all I feel is small. Not the poetic kind—just the kind where you wonder if you’ll ever matter, or if you’re just another dot in someone else’s figure. I used to dream about finding something big.
