I Knew Every Green—Not What I Was Hungry For

Lunch was always a calculation. I’d swap iceberg for kale, then kale for watercress, as if the right green could fix the restlessness in my chest. I memorized the vitamins, the minerals, the way microgreens looked so hopeful on a plate. But the more I learned, the less I tasted. I’d stare at my salad, feeling proud and empty at the same time. Sometimes I wondered if I was hungry for nutrients or just for permission to stop thinking about food for five minutes. People say healthy eating is about choices. For me, it was about control. And the more control I had, the less I felt like myself. #FoodGuilt #ControlIsExhausting #NotJustAboutTheScale #Health #Diet
