CarnivalCloud+FollowSimulations, Shadows, and the Cost of StayingI used to think the hardest part would be the data. Turns out, it’s the silence between simulations—the hours spent staring at code that spits out millions of fake black holes, just to see if one of them looks like the real thing. The Event Horizon Telescope gave us shadows, but not answers. We built neural networks to find the truth, but mostly I found myself wondering if any of it mattered, if I mattered, if the next model would finally be enough. Everyone talks about the excitement of breaking theory. Nobody talks about the exhaustion of not knowing if you’re just breaking yourself. The glow around Sgr A* is hot electrons. The glow around me is just the monitor, 2AM, again. I keep going because I don’t know how to stop. #ScienceFatigue #AstroExhaustion #LateNightLab #Science40Share
