The Coliseum Was Empty. So Was I.
Last night, I stood in front of the Coliseum, expecting something—maybe awe, maybe clarity. Instead, I just felt tired. The crowds were gone, the streetlights made the ruins look fake, and my phone battery was dying. I thought being alone here would feel cinematic, but mostly it felt like standing in line for a movie that never starts.
I took a photo I’ll never post. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s honest: me, blurry, half-lit, wishing I was somewhere else. Maybe home. Maybe anywhere I felt less like a ghost passing through someone else’s history.
