Teaching my kid to wade without falling in

When my son was 4, I got him his first pair of chest waders. He called them his “water pants” and wanted to charge right into the stream. Two years later, I’ve learned a few tricks to keep him safe (and dry): 1️⃣ Check gear & patch fast – Little kid waders take a beating. I keep Flex Tape handy for pinholes or tears until I can seal them at home. 2️⃣ Add heel studs – Just 3–4 studs in the heel help prevent slips without punching through thin soles. 3️⃣ Teach rock smarts – Small rocks and gravel = safe. Big, flat rocks = slippery wipeouts. 4️⃣ Stay downstream – I always wade upstream of him, breaking the current and keeping a hand ready. It’s made our trips safer and way more fun. #fishing #kidsfishing #wadingtips #familyfishing #Outdoors
