My backyard was anything but peaceful—busy street noise, close neighbors, and not enough privacy. A regular fence helped, but I wanted something more natural and effective, so I planted privacy hedges, and it made a huge difference! Compared to fences, hedges look better, absorb noise, and create a lush green space. Some great options are podocarpus, Italian cypress, wax myrtle, and olive trees. When planting, make sure to leave enough space for growth, water them frequently at first, then reduce watering once they’re established. Prune in the spring to keep them neat and healthy, fertilize to promote growth, and keep an eye out for pests—yellowing leaves could be a warning sign.
