would you ever ask a stranger to watch your stuff?

So, I’m traveling solo and it’s that time—need to use the bathroom, but I’ve got my suitcase, backpack, and laptop with me. I’m used to working remotely in cafes, but here, I’m not sure what’s safe. When you’re in a similar situation, do you ask a stranger to keep an eye on your things, or do you just avoid going altogether? If you do ask, how do you pick who to trust?
