My son’s school wouldn’t allow him to eat his sandwich at lunch.

Today was rough. I picked up my 4-year-old from school only to find out they threw away his lunch—his sandwich replaced with a sad baggie of Cheerios he didn’t even eat. He was heartbroken, telling me, “They threw my sandwich out!”Here’s the thing: he’s a picky eater with texture sensitivities, and making lunch for him is already a careful process. Since the school is nut-free, I’ve been sending Wowbutter sandwiches (a soy-based spread) since September, with a clear note to his teacher. No issues—until now.Out of the blue, the school admin called, questioning his sandwich. I explained everything, but they said because it looks like peanut butter, he couldn’t have it. No discussion. Just tossed it out.I completely respect nut-free policies, but this feels like a huge overreach—and it left my son feeling confused and hurt. Now, I’m left wondering: what lunch options are even left?If you’ve dealt with this too, I’d love to hear your ideas! #SchoolLunchStruggles #ParentingRealities #PickyEaters #NutFreeSchools #MomLife #Parenting
