Why Are Schools Covering Windows Now?

Just went to my kid’s open house and noticed they had paper covering all the classroom windows. The teacher said it’s to keep kids safer in case something happens, but honestly, it made me feel so uneasy. I remember when school was just about learning and making friends, not worrying about safety drills or hiding from danger. It’s heartbreaking that this is the reality now, and I can’t help but feel anxious every time I drop my son off.
