Why Do POS Tipping Screens Make Me Sweat?

Every time I order a quick coffee or grab a sandwich at a fast-service spot, that tipping screen pops up and suddenly I feel this weird pressure. Like, I just wanted a bagel, not a moral dilemma! I get that everyone deserves fair pay, but when I’m standing there with a line behind me and the cashier watching, it’s hard not to feel awkward. I end up tipping more than I planned just to avoid looking stingy, even if the service was just standard. I wish there was a way to make it less uncomfortable—maybe let us tip after we leave?
