The first time I picked up my kitten, she looked at me like I was an alien. I tried to scoop her up, but she wriggled away and hid under the couch. I learned fast—move slow, talk soft, and let her sniff my hand first. Her mom watched me like a hawk, so I kept my distance until she seemed cool with me being around. I started sitting on the floor, letting the kitten come to me. She finally crawled into my lap, purring like a tiny engine. I kept her space safe—no wires, no tiny things to chew. Every day, I played with her using a feather toy and let her explore the room. When she got tired, I let her nap undisturbed in her cozy bed.
