Nail the “What Do You Do?” Question!

Ever freeze up when someone asks, “So, what do you do?” 😅 Yeah, me too! But I’ve learned it doesn’t have to be awkward. Here’s how I make my answer way more interesting (and less cringey): • I talk about what I actually DO, not just my job title. Like, “I turn code into websites” instead of “I’m a developer.” • I focus on how I help people—makes my work sound way cooler! “I help brands tell their stories.” • I share why my job matters to me. Passion’s contagious! ❤️ • I brag a little (it’s okay!): “I’ve fixed over 400 sinks this year.” • I tell my story—where I started, what I’m doing now, and why it matters. • I show off my work if I can. “Check out this design I made!” • I use my answer to start a real convo. “I’m a travel agent—what’s your dream trip?” • I throw in a funny story or joke if the vibe’s right. 🙈 • If I’m in-between jobs, I talk about my goals and passions.
