why did my hands get so dirty on day one of spring garden prep?

Today kicked off my spring gardening and, wow, I forgot how messy it gets! I dove right in, pulling weeds and turning the soil. My hands were covered in dirt, but that’s how you know you’re doing it right. I always start by checking which plants survived the winter and clearing out any old leaves. It’s like a treasure hunt every year. I found a few earthworms, which is a good sign for healthy soil. I like to keep my tools close, so I don’t waste time running back and forth.
