Why Is Childcare Draining My Wallet, Yet Workers Struggle?

Is it just me, or does the whole childcare system feel upside down? I’m a single mom in Florida, and every month I shell out $1,400 for my son’s daycare—more than my rent! But every week, there’s a new teacher because the staff keeps quitting. Last week, I talked to one of the caregivers, and she admitted she’s barely scraping by on her paycheck. How is it that I’m paying so much, but the people looking after my kid can’t even afford groceries? If workers got paid more, would costs go up even higher?
