Why Boomers Won’t Budge From Their Homes

Ever wonder why your parents or grandparents aren’t downsizing? Turns out, assisted living is so pricey that many boomers are staying put and borrowing against their homes just to get by. This means fewer houses on the market for everyone else, and millennials might end up caring for their parents themselves. It’s not just a boomer problem—it’s a family wallet issue! If you’re house-hunting or planning for the future, keep this in mind: the housing crunch isn’t just about high prices, it’s about who can actually afford to move. #HousingMarket #Boomers #MoneyHacks #FamilyFinance #RealEstate

It's Me!
Most of us worked 45 years and saved our money so we could retire and enjoy the fruits of our labor for the years we have left. I didn't get the memo telling me we were supposed to let go of the things we worked our whole lives for because someone younger wants them.

We worked hard to pay for our homes and have no intentions of selling them and going into a "home" until it is medically necessary!

We like where we live and will stay as long as possible. We don’t want some retirement place with the HOA led by Karen and Brad telling us what to do.

could it possibly be because we paid for them and we love living in them??? we have a RIGHT to stay in them as long as we want and need to! I'm frankly tired of this public pressure and social media pressure to suggest I should consider such thing as leaving my home. I take care of it pay taxes and it's MINE

people want boomers to move from their homes. A Google search will show there are about 73 million boomers. It will also show there are about 33,000 assisted living facilities with about 1.2 million beds. So those advocating for boomers giving up their homes need to explain where those 73 million people are supposed to go.

we are not borrowing against our homes "just to get by", you are full of misinformation. Our homes are paid for in full. Why move and pay rent? if we are in relative good health we are staying put. Our house is paid for and if we need anything done that we can't manage we hire someone, plain and simple. Do better research before writing articles.

Most people of every age resist change. Many older people have paid off their mortgage so only housing expenses are property tax and insurance. I know several people who wouldn't mind downsizing to a smaller home but as their housing expense is around $500 a month as is that it would be impractical to move.

While our house is really bigger that we need, it is our house. We like the neighborhood. We do not want the hassle of moving.

Millenials need to shut their mouths and concern themselves with their own business, Boomers have earned everything they have, so why should they give up what they have to satisfy a bunch of entitled self-centered people who think their parents are supposed to take care of them for their entire lives!
