why did my corn suddenly turn into sad floppy noodles overnight?

I woke up one morning and my corn stalks were all flopped over like they’d just given up on life. I almost cried. Turns out, I’d been watering them way too much. The soil was soggy, and the roots couldn’t breathe. I started letting the top inch of soil dry out before watering again, and they perked up in a few days. I also learned that corn needs a lot of sun and hates being crowded. I thinned out the weaker plants, and the rest shot up like rockets. Now, every time I see those tall, green stalks, I feel like a proud plant parent.
