Why Does the First $100k Feel Impossible?

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with this idea that the first $100k is the hardest to save, but no one tells you just how tough it really is. I’m working long hours at my marketing job in Chicago, barely seeing daylight, and yet my savings account looks like it’s stuck in quicksand. Everyone from Warren Buffet to my boss keeps saying, “Just get to $100k, and things get easier.” But is that $100k in cash, or does my 401(k) count? I keep thinking a six-figure salary would solve everything, but even with a recent raise, my expenses seem to multiply.
