Did I Steal My Roommate’s Cat’s Heart?

So, I moved into a new place and my roommate (who also happens to be my landlord) brought home a kitten. He said the cat could hang out in our rooms if we wanted, so I started letting her in. Fast forward a few weeks: this little furball now scratches at my door every night, ignores my roommate, and basically acts like she pays rent in my room. Now I’m wondering… is it weird that I’ve basically become this cat’s emotional support human? My social life is basically nonexistent, so yeah, I might be projecting a little. But is it disrespectful to my roommate that his cat likes me more? Or is this just how cats work? Anyone else ever accidentally become a pet’s favorite when it wasn’t technically your pet?
