why are my sunflowers suddenly taller than my garage door?

This year, my sunflowers are totally showing off. Last summer, I barely got them past my knees, but now they’re towering over my garage door like they own the place. I started by soaking the seeds overnight and planting them in the sunniest spot I could find. Every morning, I give them a deep drink of water—turns out, they love a good soak. I also tossed in some compost from my kitchen scraps, and I swear they grew an inch overnight. Watching them stretch higher every day makes me so happy.
