why do my cabbages look like they belong in a magazine cover?

Every time I walk past our community garden, I have to stop and stare at these cabbages. They’re so green and perfect, it’s like they’re showing off. I swear, the secret is giving them a little space to breathe and not crowding them. I used to plant everything way too close together, but once I started spreading them out, the leaves just exploded in size. I also started watering early in the morning, so the soil stays moist but not soggy. And wow, a little mulch goes a long way for keeping weeds down and the moisture in.
