Adopting a Dog in Winter? Read This First

Shovel a patch of grass, invest in paw balm or booties, and yes, your dog needs a jacket. If they’re still refusing to go outside, potty pads are your friend. Walks? Think sprints. If you wouldn’t touch the sidewalk barefoot, neither should your dog. Salt and deicers are basically kryptonite for paws—wipe them down after every outing. Cabin fever is real. Brain games, puzzle toys, and training classes are lifesavers. Bonus: they’ll tire your dog out faster than a blizzard walk.
