Navigating English Names at School: Embracing Identity and Belonging

When my daughters started school, we chose to give them English names for the classroom. At first, I wondered if this would help them fit in or if it might distance them from their heritage. I remember the mixed feelings—pride in their roots, but also a desire for them to feel comfortable and accepted among their peers. Sometimes, I worry if they feel like they have to hide a part of themselves, or if they see their English names as a bridge to new friendships.
