I Tried to Paint My Concrete Statue. Regret Won.

I thought painting my concrete statue would be a quick win—something to make the yard feel less like a rental and more like mine. Instead, I spent hours hunched over a bucket, scrubbing grime from every crevice with a toothbrush. My hands stung from the epoxy putty, which I smeared over cracks that never seemed to disappear. I bought three different paints because I couldn’t get the color right. The base coat soaked in unevenly, and the top coat dried streaky. I tried to fix it with dry-brushing, but it just looked worse. By the time I sealed it, I’d spent $48 and two weekends. It still looks like a kid’s art project. Every time I walk past it, I remember what I could’ve done with that money. I wanted a statement piece. I got a reminder that DIY doesn’t always save you. #DIYDisaster #HomeBudgetFail #BrokeButCreative #Home
