Imagine bringing back dire wolves in a lab while gutting protections for real endangered species’ habitats. That’s what’s happening: biotech is hyping up ‘de-extinction’ projects, but at the same time, new rules could let developers bulldoze the actual homes of owls, panthers, and butterflies.
