Next year, I’ll be standing before a class of 12th graders who have already declared their indifference—phones glued to their hands, eyes glazed with apathy, and a stubborn refusal to participate. It’s almost poetic, isn’t it? I’m supposed to inspire, yet they’ve built walls higher than my lesson plans can climb. I confess, I’m torn between the urge to craft dazzling lessons and the sinking feeling that effort alone won’t bridge the gap. Can I really do the learning for them?
