Confession time: I’m at my wit’s end with my 11-year-old brother. While I thrived in school, he’s glued to TikTok and video games, barely lifting a finger for homework unless it’s to Google the answers. Our parents are superheroes—my mom runs a store, my dad’s a truck driver—but they’re stretched thin. I tried doing a project with him, but ended up doing it alone (ironic, right?). He struggles with reading, math, and writing, and might have ADHD, but that can’t be the whole story. He’s smart—just not motivated. I want him to care, to try, to see that school matters.
