Fired After 20 Years: Is Loyalty Just a Joke Now?

So, here I am—20 years deep in the design world, and suddenly, I’m out. No warning, just a weird performance plan and then a pink slip. I’d just been promoted, too. 🤷‍♂️ I keep replaying everything in my head, wondering if I missed some big red flag. Was it really my work, or just office politics? Watching my team shrink from 18 to 6, including my boss, makes me think it wasn’t about me at all. Now I’m stuck, feeling lost and honestly a little betrayed. I can’t just go back to working late nights to prove myself. I want to hear from others—have you ever felt like you were just a number? Loyalty has been a joke for 40 years now since Wall Street started taking over the economy.. It is no wonder employees no longer have any loyalty to their employers.. Employers tried to fix this with ESPPs but they screwed that up too and fucked the employees.😡😡😡😡😡
