Is Silence the New Professionalism? My Job Interview Left Me Wondering

So, I landed an interview for a job I really wanted—everything happened so fast, I barely had time to process it. The interviewers seemed genuinely interested, even told me I’d hear back by Wednesday. But Wednesday came and went, and I heard nothing. I tried to be patient, but after a couple of days, I called them. They told me the deadline was extended and I was still in the running. Next week, still nothing. When I finally called again, I was told the position was already filled. No call, no email, just silence. I’m honestly confused and a bit hurt. Is it normal for employers to just ghost candidates?
