December in New York is supposed to feel electric. Every corner is a postcard—lights on Fifth, steam rising from subway grates, strangers huddled in doorways. I took a hundred photos, but none of them felt real. I kept thinking, if I just walked further, I’d finally feel it: that spark everyone talks about.
