I Forgot What My Real Face Looks Like

Every night, I stand in front of the mirror, layering on moisturizer like it’s armor. I pat in serums, dab at my under-eyes, and massage my cheeks until they flush. I know every tip—EFAs, antioxidants, sunscreen, all of it. But sometimes, I catch my reflection and don’t recognize the person staring back. I’m tired of chasing the next fix. I eat the berries, take the collagen, exfoliate just enough. But the lines are still there, and so is the ache of wondering if I’d be enough without all this effort.
