Why Is Silence the New Rejection Letter?

I’m honestly at my wit’s end with this job search circus. After countless interviews—some even making it to the third round—I’m left hanging, with nothing but radio silence from employers. Is it too much to ask for a simple, “Sorry, you weren’t selected”? Instead, I’m stuck refreshing my inbox, clinging to vague promises like, “We’ll get back to you by Friday,” only for Friday to turn into two weeks of nothing. I’m not even upset about not getting the job. What gets me is the lack of basic courtesy. How hard is it to send a quick rejection email? I’m starting to wonder if ghosting candidates is the new norm. Has anyone else been through this? How do you deal with the anxiety and uncertainty?
