Jamestown isn’t the US’s oldest city-It pisses me off when people say it is

I can't help but get a little riled up when people assume Jamestown, Virginia is the oldest city in the US. I mean, sure, it was the first permanent English colony established in 1607, but let's give credit where it's due. The real OG is St. Augustine, Florida, founded by the Spanish way back in 1565! It's like the forgotten gem of American history. Aside from a brief stint under British rule, it was the capital of 'Spanish Florida' for over 250 years. So next time someone brings up Jamestown, just casually drop some knowledge about St. Augustine and watch their minds get blown. History is full of surprises, and this is one of my favorites! #History
