No one said hiking would be punished by fellow travelers

Guys, last week’s solo hike? Trauma central. Met a dude who joined outta nowhere—jeans, sneakers, like he’s hiking the mall. Then he breaks a twig for a “trekking pole.” Worst? At the summit, he’s like, “Stay overnight, wildlife’s chill!” Nah, I bailed fast. Never wanna see that weirdo again. #Sports #Hiking #CreepyHikeDude

GOD help us...
If someone is giving you bad vibes, put distance between you because you never know. Not everyone you meet is harmless, unfortunately.

I hike in jeans and sneakers frequently. It's about whatever works and is comfortable. You don't need technical hiking clothes to hike. Also sometimes feel like going on a hike but don't have my actual gear. Usually when someone like you is on trail. I end up schooling them and watching them suffer. I enjoy it everytime. Never assume on trail about others. You don't know why they are there or their situation.

I think the guy just happened to be hiking the same trail so figured they would keep each other company. As for his awkward comments, some people are not good at striking up conversations. 🤔

I used to work in a building in the woods in a natural and protected area. There was a hiking trail down to a swampy creek. I walked all the way into the swamp one day to see the muskrats and beavers. When I turned to climb up the trail there was a man standing there at the top. He had followed me. I looked for a potential weapon and found a very large hand carved hiking stick with a beautiful point on it. I picked it up, smacked it over my hand a few times so he would see it. I started right back up the trail toward him with it prominently in my hand. He claimed he worked in the same building I did but he walked fast and stayed clear of me while i had the stick. When we got to the end of the trail he ran off, didn’t go near the building and I never saw him again. He was up to no good and whoever carved that stick may have saved my life. I often thank God for that person.

If you don't like the wildlife, don't hike in their habitat.
