We hit Croatia thinking it’d be a pit stop—one week, maybe two, before pushing further east. Seven months of backpacking had left us brittle. Šibenik was supposed to be a break, not a destination. But we stayed. A month slipped by, and I barely noticed. It wasn’t the old town or the sea that kept us.
