The Battle for Yard Dominance

This time my family moved to a house that is my dream paradise, I had previously been phenomenal about owning a big yard that I would plant full of flowers and then live like a princess! But my husband wants to use the yard to grow food and organic vegetables! He says he especially misses living on a farm as a kid, and I really don't understand or want to give in to that! Much less do I want my big yard to turn into a half vegetable, half flower genetic mutant. Has this happened to any of you?
