Coworker Thinks My Early Retirement Dream Is Crazy! 😳💸

Today, I had a pretty intense conversation with a coworker while we were working on the boat. I mentioned my goal of retiring early, and he just couldn’t wrap his head around it. He asked if I really wanted to work nonstop just to end up old and rich, or if I’d rather work until 65 and enjoy life along the way. I tried to explain that I do take vacations and that our schedule actually allows for some good downtime. But he insisted that retiring at 50 is only possible if I have ten million dollars, otherwise inflation would ruin everything. Honestly, almost everyone I talk to about this reacts the same way, except for my dad. It’s starting to get to me. Am I being unrealistic? Has anyone else faced this kind of pushback at work?
