The Film I Watched Like a Sunday Nap

I watched The Vertical Ray of the Sun last night. Didn’t plan to. Just clicked play and sank into it like heat. Not much happens—and that’s why I liked it. The way it moves reminded me of real life. Three sisters cooking, breathing, pausing. The camera doesn’t zoom in on drama; it stays back, like you’re peeking from the kitchen, catching a conversation half a floor up. Hanoi’s streets and houses almost speak louder than the dialogue. At one point, I thought of a gallery I went to years ago—small exhibition on how people live in tight cities like Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh. The film feels like that. Layers of soft color, tangled spaces, not too clean. Familiar, even if you’ve never been. #entertainment #movie #quietcinema
