the awkward walk: kevin and the other dog

We met another dog on our walk today. Kevin’s tail wagged nervously—he wanted to say hello, but the other dog wasn’t having it. Instead of a friendly sniff, the other pup gave Kevin a cold stare and stiff body language. Kevin froze. His usual swagger disappeared. He took tiny, hesitant steps, avoiding eye contact like a kid trying to sneak past a strict teacher. I could almost hear his thoughts: “Okay, just keep moving… no sudden moves…” By the time we got home, Kevin was exhausted—not from exercise, but social anxiety.
