Many lung-cancer patients have something abnormal on their fingers. One red flag they almost always miss is clubbing—fingers or toes that slowly swell and bulge like little drumsticks. Most guys just shrug it off: “I’m built thick from hard work.” That shrug can cost them their lives. Clubbing happens when low blood-oxygen levels starve the tips of fingers or toes, triggering painless soft-tissue growth. It usually shows up symmetrically in both hands and feet; if only one side balloons, something else is going on. Clubbing isn’t exclusive to lung cancer, but 75–80 % of cases are tied to serious lung disease—COPD, chronic abscesses, bronchiectasis, TB, cystic fibrosis, you name it. It can also pop up in heart defects, liver cirrhosis, Crohn’s, even leukemia or chemical exposure (think arsenic, silica, beryllium). #NailIssues #FingerSafety #HealthAlert
