People complain about housing prices. They complained about them 40 years ago too and they will complain 40 years from now. If you were selling the property you’d be all for taking the money you’re charging without complaint. This is a free market and the market bears what people pay. And there are people out there with money willing to pay the price and own the home. Some people actually have good paying jobs. If you can’t afford a 2000 sq ft home then you buy what you can afford, maybe a 1000 sq ft home, otherwise you rent. If your income is insufficient, you either promote or find a way to get the skills to make more money. The lazy people sit back and whine because they don’t have a house handed to them. You have to earn it.

Overpriced and too high interest rate

The fear is the economy, with all the uncertainties due to tariffs. If they buy a house and then lose their jobs, they will be in big trouble.

if you missed the boat 20 years ago in terms of buying property, then that boat is never coming back so unless you’re inheriting property, good luck!

I ain’t selling

With a 2.5% mortgage rate, I’m not selling, and a lot like me won’t sell either. And those who say, I’ll keep renting, rents here in CA are double my mortgage payment, including tax and insurance I pay $1287 a month, on a two bed, two full size bath, two car garage, gated community. Cheapest rent I’ve seen, $2800 for a 500 square foot apartment on the third floor, outside parking, and no EV charging or EV parking, they say the property insurance is too great to allow EV’s. Utilities are your responsibility, except trash. I’ll stay in my single story house, thank you.
