There’s this church in northern Ethiopia built inside a cave on a cliff. People say it’s the hardest church in the world to get to. First, you hike a bit up some cute purple stone steps. Then you climb the cliff barefoot and with your hands—no ropes, no gear. The spots you step on are worn down by all the people who’ve prayed there before. Locals climb up like mountain goats, no problem. Only the priest who shows the holy book has the key. If someone comes to pray, he climbs up with them to open the door. Today was quiet. I stayed inside the church for almost two hours. It was peaceful but also kind of dizzying up there. The walls have old paintings that seem to tell their own story. It’s wild to think how people risk all this just to pray. Not sure if it’s faith or just people showing respect, but it was definitely something else to experience. #Sports #climbing #ClimbingJourney
