I stood at the edge of Bøttejuvet, expecting something to crack open inside me. The cliffs were sharp, the water below colder than I’d imagined. I’d seen photos—everyone grinning, arms outstretched, like the view alone could fix whatever they’d carried up the trail. But standing there, I felt nothing. Not numb, just… blank. The wind was loud. My hands ached from gripping the railing. I took a photo I never posted. Maybe I thought the right landscape would finally make me feel small in a good way, or grateful, or at least changed.
