Not everyone records their climbs — and that’s totally okay. But for those who do, it’s not just for show: 👉 analyzing beta 👉 tracking progress 👉 sharing sends 👉 staying motivated Since cameras are usually fixed, it’s hard to avoid other people in the frame. So… what should take priority in a gym — climbing or filming? And more importantly: 🔹 How should we protect bystanders’ image rights and privacy? 🔹 If a video goes public and someone’s face gets widely shared without consent — what’s the ethical or legal line? 🔹 How do we balance creators’ needs and community comfort? As fellow climber W.D said: “This isn’t a small thing — we need to figure it out, for the sake of the whole gym.” Also, while we’re here — a quick climbing gym etiquette reminder: ☐ Check if you’re crossing lines before going up ☐ Don’t hog routes when it’s busy ☐ Don’t camp under the wall reading beta when others are climbing ☐ Stay off pads near the wall — especially when people are climbing ☐ Always watch for climbers above you ☐ Don’t beta spray unless asked ☐ Don’t jump on a route someone just brushed ☐ Downclimb or jump from low, check below first Let’s keep gyms safe, respectful, and fun for everyone ✌️ #Sports #climbing #gymetiquette #community #respect #privacy
