PSA: Go. To. The. Dermatologist.

Talking about skincare, for most, the concerns are purely aesthetic or beauty-related. But here I am saying: What looked like a harmless mole can end up being far more serious! This woman is 35, with no family history of melanoma, and she has never been into tanning — yet she still got diagnosed with melanoma in situ. She caught it early, thankfully, thanks to a routine checkup. First pic: what we thought they'd just remove. Second: how much they actually had to (bigger than everyone thought!). Please don’t wait. Even if it’s “just cosmetic,” get your skin checked. Early detection can save your life. #MelanomaAwareness #SkinCheck #SkinHealth #Skincare #PSA #EarlyDetection #MoleCheck #KnowYourSkin #HealthMatters

My health insurance wants me to see a dermatologist every year. I insisted that my husband get checked too. I’m a light blonde with blue eyes and had been sunburned a lot when I was younger. My husband was dark hair and brown eyes which is usually better. But he had a cancerous spot removed and I was OK. He had to have several taken off over the years. Even had to have Moh’s done. I have since had to have a spot taken off that turned on me. But I was amazed that my parents never went to a dermatologist or ever had a colonoscopy done. And my dad died of colon cancer last year. They found it after he fell and they told us that he had a stroke that caused him to fall and then they found the colon cancer and it had already gone to Stage 4 and had metastasized into his bones. He lasted 2 more weeks. I push for seeing a dermatologist and getting colonoscopies
