Why Gen X Isn’t Rushing to Babysit

Well the reason a lot of us dont !! IDK maybe we still work 🤷🏼‍♂️wish I could retire at 48

I will keep my grandkids on an occasion so my adult kids can have some adult/vacation time away. Obviously we've been there, it gives great quality time with the grandkids and helps with marriage balance for my grown kids, so it's a win/win. Keeping them all the time though? Not happening, I've raised my 5, no thanks.

most of our generation still works. I'm 57 and work two jobs. I barely have time to relax.

My granddaughter lives with me. I am mom/granddaughter. She is 10

My grandkids live with me a 9 year old girl and a year old boy and I'm with them 24/7! It's ridiculous! I love them to death but damn!😞😞😞

Not babysitting for my kids when they have kids.

I watch my grandchild 35-40+ hours a week. Plus work nights and weekends around that. I’d do it again in a heartbeat and happy to be super involved. Kids do best with family in most cases where there are loving and healthy relationships. I’ve sacrificed a lot and will continue to, in order to give the best start! It’s only the first few years and then they start to go away to school more and more. If people don’t want to support their kids and grandchildren in life, that’s their choice but don’t cry when you only see them occasionally because they don’t have a strong bond with you. The kids are always worth the time and energy and their first few years are a huge priority!! I brought my children into the world and I will always be a support to them no matter what it may be as long as I’m able. To think parenting ends at 18 is crazy, you shouldn’t have kids if you think that. You’re a parent forever and should act like it!

I want a grandbaby lol but yes I agree with most of that😆 I will babysit. not become the foster person 😆😆
