Grandparent Babysitting Burnout?

I have date night every Friday night with my five-year-old grandson so that my daughter and her husband can go out enjoy their date night. it was all my idea. I love spending time with my grandchildren. but my children would never ask me to be an everyday babysitter and every weekend babysitter for them. I raise them better than that. and they better never think about cutting off visitations when you getting to see my grandchildren cuz there would be hell to pay. which they wouldn't do it anyway. and I'm guessing this woman's daughter wouldn't do it anyway as well. she is always going to need her mom.

I'm 58 and have been the primary caregiver to my 3 year old grandson most of his life. In fact, right now, he's living with me while his mother is working 60+ hours a week in a town more than an hour away. I'm exhausted. She wants him with her and is currently arranging to get his medical appointments to get his vaccinations up to date so he can start pre-school where she lives, but it will be at least 2 weeks before that can happen. I'm ready to step back and be the occasional babysitter I'm meant to be.

Excuses, Americans killed their family units by their own design. FFS my great grandma is 85 and doesn't give the kids up when we visit Mexico. She never was burned out by us. There was times when my mother was alive id have to call and tell her I need my kids back. You guys know if you stepped up as grandparents you would have more grandkids. Can't exactly make you guys grandkids with a toddler in the bed from a nightmare.

My friend is having that problem. She is being taken advantage of. It's one thing to help out when you can or be a grandma, but to be expected to be the unpaid babysitter is not fair. My friend has health problems, and her granddaughter thinks grandma doesn't like her when she refuses.
