Have you ever asked, “How much longer until we reach the destination?” during your hikes? Try to recall if your companions have ever responded with the “five minutes” line and attempted to motivate you further using this method. I stayed back once on a hike with the slower guys. The "5 minute" thing had been going on the whole hike, but it progressed to random people coming the other way. When asked, they had all been prepped to respond with "about 5 minutes" - my friends are brutal.

5 isnt believable. "About 15 minutes" is better... a more believable lie. You take the actual and divide by 4
