It also may be that teacher pay sucks. It is hard to support a family on a teacher’s salary.

Nobody wants to be a teacher. My son just resigned from his teaching position. Students have no respect and the school system will not back you. So why would anybody want to be a teacher.

I remember when male teacher were being falsely (and not so falsely too) of child s3x abuse and the false claims made men not want to even be in a position to be falsely accused. That is still keeping them away because women continue to falsely accuse men of various things. For his fortune, out of spite, who knows, but other women seem to condone it. We will just keep to ourselves, thank you.

I had several male teachers in school. I'm not sure they had a lot of empathy. I'll have e to say I learned more in their no-nonsense, no excuses, classrooms.

don't know about others, but I left because the entire system became too soft. restorative justice practices did not work. many teachers gave up and just gave students grades, so they wouldn't be admonished by administrators. I held students accountable, which riled some fellow teachers and admin. so I left

I am a male teacher. When I was in 9th grade, a male teacher from my middle school was accused of inappropriate contact with a minor by one of his students. It destroyed his life. A few months later, the girl admitted she lied. Too late. He had to quit his job and move away. That was almost exactly 40 years ago, and I still think about it all the time. It completely dictates how I interact with kids.

Nuts. That's why guys don't go into teaching. They are goal oriented. They see the task and accomplishment without a whole lot of wasted time about how they feel about the learning process.

Conservative values
The same reason women don’t go into STEM. In general it’s not how the 2 genders are wired. Men don’t want to go into teaching in general. Women don’t want to go into engineering in general. And this is ok.
