Grandparent Babysitting Burnout Is Real

Its not burn out. Its the fact that we have to obey rules set by the parents that are ridiculous and counter productive to common sense. If you dont think your parents are capable of raising children watch your own damn kids!

Ahh, yeah. She made them babies, not us. We are just their playmates, and then we get our time out! 😉👍

When I become a grandparent. I laid the rules down I said I raised you kids. And now you raise your own. I five one full week a year for getaway. And weekends here and need appointments however when I want my grandchildren they need to be available 🌸

Have a family dinner with everyone there, grandkids included(they need to know what their parents are pulling). After dinner, discuss the situation. Calmly, let them know that: 1. You are not the parents of your grandchildren. It is not your job to co-parent them EVERY weekend. 2. Tell them that you and your partner have plans of your own for your weekends, and they need to respect that and find another solution for childcare. 3. Tell the grandchildren that you do love them but that their parents are being disrespectful to you and them by using emotional blackmail when they try saying that they will withhold the grandkids from ever seeing them again. Be open and honest with all of them. Set the rules. Don't let them interrupt you before you have completed saying your piece.

I never had a problem watching my grandkids ever,I begged for my granddaughters, my oldest grandaughter I had most of the time,they were like having my daughter's all over again, would do the same with my great granddaughter but they live to far away, my daughter's and grandaughters are my life nothing makes me happier than being with them

Oh yea then you watch them and they want the rules. My response is you think you are okay? Then let me do my grand parenting how I want to. Because Im experienced my way. Thank you children glad you guys are so smart however wisdom experienced is no comparison 💕

There's grandma's time with the kiddos, which is free, and there's babysitting, which is not free. At the very least, parents should ask if grandma's available and not assume or demand.

As a grandmother that was cut off from my grandkids, almost 2 years, I would just accept it.

What really would upset me. Is you get here in the early morning with the kiddos. Then u are to pick them up right after work! Not a phone call saying I'm going to stop at the store or no phone call at all. Just show up whenever.... no more babysitting
